One of the most important benefits of being a member of the North Carolina Association of Private Investigators is the privilege and responsibility to participate in the decisions process that affects your ability as a professional to serve your clients and conduct business in North Carolina and beyond.
Private investigators in North Carolina are licensed and regulated by the Department of Justice and the Private Protective Services under provisions of Chapter 74-C. The NCAPI strives to promote and safeguard the highest professional ethics of the investigative profession. Only Principal Members of the NCAPI may vote and/or hold office in this association.
Affiliate Members shall be individuals licensed by a state or territory of the United States of America, other than the state of North Carolina, to perform the duties of a Private Investigator, Private Investigator Associate, (or the like), or Private Detective. Affiliate Members shall not vote or hold office in the association.
Business Associate Members shall be any corporate sponsors and/or businesses that support professional investigators, as well as, the goals and ethics of the association. Business Associate Members shall not vote or hold office in the association.
IMPORTANT: When submitting an application for Principal and Affiliate memberships, please e-mail a copy or photograph of your current Private Investigator, Private Investigator Associate or similar credential to firstname.lastname@example.org. You may use your wall license or hard card for this purpose. The NCAPI requires this proof of industry licensure to complete the application so it may be reviewed & voted on by the Board of Directors.
